The book offers a penetrating insight into the Egyptian economy through a diverse array of economic issues. It consists of papers written by multiple authors and it aims to discuss different views and alternative perspectives to examine and solve those issues. In this way, an alternative view is introduced for dealing with the situation imposed by a country claiming that there are no creative ideas inside and no willingness to receive any ideas from the outside.
In ten chapters, authors discuss social movements, inequality movements, the failure of neoliberal solutions, and other issues. Since analyses are mostly left-wing, they are academically logical as self-criticism. Yet, they have not gained massive popularity. However, one of the strengths of the book is exposing the regime’s false claims, though within a biased ideological framework.
