Three basic fields fall under gender studies, which are: women’s studies, men’s studies, and gender studies and labeling theory. In order for any attempt to recognize the field of gender studies, it entails research on what every field of these three fields added as well as recognizing the philosophical roots that started and formed such a field of study.
This study comes like an attempt to identify gender studies as a field of knowledge and area of study. It swiftly addresses fields of study that come under it, some philosophical ideas, key concepts and a number of the strongest arguments in gender studies.

Because both Existentialism, postmodernism and other ideas have a significant impact in terms of the emergence of this field of study and the formulation of its key concepts, this study will attempt to discuss the relation between each of Existentialism and postmodernism, and gender studies. It further seeks to present some of the key concepts that underpin such studies like Performativity, Intersectionality and Transgenderism. In addition to discussing the main debates and theoretical questions about this section of knowledge, most notably identity question, ontology argument about what the essence of things are. Is it fixed and unchanging? Or formed and composed according to variable socialization and historical conditions?
