There are many studies in social sciences and humanities that endeavored to observe and analyze the role of intellectuals in the Egyptian society in different chronological phases. However, in the framework of creating a common area for the convergence of arts and humanities. This study is attempting to concentrate on the image of intellectuals from an approach more related to connecting between movies and social sciences and humanities or the so-called “Sociology of Art”. That is through opening the doors of Egyptian movies to explore and analyze the existence of the character of intellectuals in Egyptian films since the beginning of the Egyptian movies until now. How was the character of intellectuals presented? Was it the real image of intellectuals in the Egyptian society or was it intentionally profiled? What is the influence of this image on the public while dealing with intellectuals in reality? Let alone many other questions that gradually appear to us.

The study shows social, political and economic changes that arise in the Egyptian society and accordingly influence art and cultural life there, for art is a field that reflects the features of social change in its cultural product. Within this framework, the study divides the history of Egyptian movies according to the political stages witnessed by the Egyptian society that changed its shape and features. The study is attempting to observe the dominant features of cinematic works in every phase and analyze the image of intellectuals presented in the films of every chronological and political phase.
